The name grew out of a song tied to the Appalachian mountains, which became a symbol of endurance during times of loss—Hurricane Helene, the fires in Altadena and the Palisades, and beyond.

The artwork on the label reflects that story: the golden bear, once a visitor to our front yard in Altadena, now stands as a reminder of nature’s enduring presence. Surrounded by wildflowers and evergreens, she represents the universal “mama” navigating the challenges of this world while nurturing and protecting life. Mountain Mama Balm is a balm for the skin, but also a symbol of grounding, comfort, and connection for the soul.

Solid vs. Whipped Texture- Our solid balm is our original version—dense, salve-like, and deeply penetrating. Our whipped balm is lighter, more lotion-like in texture, and spreads easily over the skin. Both provide the same powerful skin benefits—just choose the texture that feels best to you.
