Plain Jane Balm - Bison Tallow

Plain Jane Balm- Our same rich, herb-infused bison tallow balm—but with no essential oils. This formula is perfect for sensitive skin and fragrance-sensitive individuals. While our Plain Jane is free of any scents from essential oils, it is not void of any smell at all. To completely remove any and all smell from tallow is to strip it of its beneficial nutrients. We use only the suet or leaf fat, not fat from the entire bison and we do a dry render process that maintains the nutrients and integrity of our bison tallow. However we do take a couple of extra steps to ensure that we make it as light and odor free as possible. Any smell in Plain Jane is the natural tallow but even more so, the sweet aroma of the infused calendula, chamomile and marshmallow root. Some ultra sensitive folks may find it still too strong for them so please keep that in mind. 

Solid vs. Whipped Texture- Our solid balm is our original version—dense, salve-like, and deeply penetrating. Our whipped balm is lighter, more lotion-like in texture, and spreads easily over the skin. Both provide the same powerful skin benefits—just choose the texture that feels best to you.

Bison Tallow – Skin‑nourishing emollient rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins.

Olive‑derived Squalane – Lightweight, non‑greasy moisturizer that mimics the skin’s natural lipid barrier.

Attention:  Rendered tallow typically starts softening around 95-100°F and fully melts somewhere between 100-110°F. During spring and summer months it is recommended to pop your new tallow in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes prior to opening. Most people do extremely well with tallow as their core moisturizer, but as with everything, there is always an exception to the rule and your skin may not love it. When applying to the face it is always recommended to apply to clean and gently exfoliated skin. Even better to apply to slightly damp skin, a good hydrosol spray is excellent to add hydration before applying your tallow.
